Next Phase of Multi-Million Dollar Village Expansion Continues For Winter Opening

Visitors to the Big Sky Mountain Village Plaza area will see a new building has taken shape between the Snowcrest and Huntley Lodge. Construction crews will continue with interior work through the summer with a goal of opening for the 2007-2008 winter season.

Big Sky Resort broke ground two summers ago on the first of several structures that will re-shape the core Mountain Village over the coming decade. Village Center One, which will enhance the current pedestrian plaza and expand the retail and dining options at Big Sky. This four-story building will offer innovative slopeside work/play entertainment suites.

Description

Even when the skis get stored, the bullwheel continues to turn. Big Sky's Scenic Gondola Ride provides our summer visitor with a bird's eye view of the surrounding mountains. The enclosed, four-passenger cars offer round trip rides or great access for hiking or mountain biking. So bring your mountain bike along for some high-altitude riding. Ride the scenic lift round-trip for optimum leisure or get a nice workout by hiking back down to the village on our new self-guided nature trail or tackle the summit of Lone Peak.

Beginning at the Big Sky Mountain Village 7,500 feet above sea level, the scenic lift rises 1,525 vertical feet to an elevation of 9,047 feet.

Directions

The Big Sky Scenic Gondola Ride starts from the base area of Big Sky Resort, 7500 ft. above sea level. Tickets may be purchased from Big Sky Sports in the Mountain Mall. Big Sky is 45 miles south of Bozeman and 45 miles north of Yellowstone National Park.
